How to get users

How to get users?

There are only two ways to attract users.

1. Solve a problem.

Find a pain point and fix it.

Doesn't matter if it's your own problem or someone else's.

Your own problem is easier because you already understand it deeply you're your first user.

Someone else's problem means you have to go talk to people, watch how they work, ask what's annoying them.

Either way, the rule is the same: real pain beats a nice-to-have every time.

People pay to make pain go away way faster than they pay for something "cool."

2. Provide enough value.

Even something simple ~a free tool, a useful post, a template, a small feature

if it gives people decent value, nobody can stop you from getting users.

No permission needed. No approval needed. Just put it out there.

And here's the natural next step: once people are getting value from you for free, some percentage of them will happily pay for more.

That's the whole game of turning free users into paying customers.

You don't have to force it

You just have to make the free thing genuinely useful first.

So what's the best option?

Is anyone stopping you from doing both? solving a real problem AND giving away enough free value to pull people in?

No. Nobody's stopping you.

So do both.

Don't pick one and ignore the other.

One tip: market and distribute aggressively.

Don't sit quietly and wait for people to find you.

Post it.

Share it.

DM people.

Put it in every group, forum, and comment section where it's relevant.

Being "too much" about your own work is rarely the actual problem; being invisible is.

Bonus:

If you actually do the two things above solve something real, give real value people start doing the distribution for you.

They share it because it helped them, not because you asked.

That's the cheapest, most powerful marketing there is.

Word of mouth from someone who genuinely got value costs you nothing and converts better than any ad.

All the best :)
